You are both foreigners with no immediate US relatives (spouse, child) correct?

Here's how you emmigrate:
You mentioned experience in care. Get a nursing degree. I'm pretty sure that--due to the shortage of qualified nurses, there is currently a visa program in place. Once you have your degree, you can probably find a company to sponsor you for a visa. You'll need to work for them for probably at least 2 years before you can get your green card. In the mean time you need to marry your partner because he sounds like he has no qualifications (technical college degree, company sponsorship, rockstar status, USD100K to invest) which would make him qualify for a visa. Once your married, you can apply for a visa for him--I believe while you're working under your own visa.

During those two years I mentioned, it is likely that your partner--now spouse--will not be able to legally work inside the US, so plan your finances accordingly.

Once you are a permanent resident, you can apply for his PR, and onward to citizenship.
