I live in ireland right now, my parents are both Italians.
We are all sick of the irish weather , and we are thinking about moving to California.
My uncle lives in New Hampshire,so we would have a place to stay for a while.
My parents and uncle plan to move to California together, they are thinking of opening their own Italian restaurant?
So i have a few questions.
-Which parts of Cali are the sunniest? we really want to go to a sunny place.
-Where would we find houses at a decent price?
-In what areas could they open a restaurant succesfully? ( both my parents are chefs btw.)
-Are californian people racist?
-And, i'm in high school, so , is ducation good in California?

Please give as much detail as you can
Thanks!

Get a lawyer to find out about visa's before you do anything else. you'll find that it's a lot more difficult to immmigrate to the US than it used to be.

i live in california and think its one of the best places. i live in the valley and love it. im in the middle and can easily drive to the beach and mountains in no time. L.A. is about 4 hours away and san diego is 5 hours away. there is a lot of areas in fresno,ca that have a great opportunity for a restaurant. no not really i dont meet that many racist people. in fresno its VERY mixed youll see every race there is. i just graduated in 2008 and i loved high school. i miss it so much, college is a whole new world!

traitor. you are italian, yet you will happily move to this wonderful U****A?

You already have good weather in Italy so move there with your parents.

I could name many cities like Sevilla in Spain which offer great weather and far easier for you to move to.

You need to go to the "sticky" at the top of this page and read up about immigration requirements and whether or not your uncle can sponsor you. With an EU passport you can live and legally work anywhere in Europe but this is not the case where the USA is concerned and you have to go through the proper channels.

Sorry, kid. Unless you apply for and win the diversity lottery, you're not going anywhere. Without blood relatives, superstar/model status, Master of Science degrees and a sponsoring major corporation, or a multinational corporation willing to relocate and sponsor you, you and your family cannot migrate to the United States on a permanent basis.

It sounds like I'm kidding, but it's the sad truth about the immigration situation in the US nowadays.

But, just in case you did win the DV lottery and have a fistful of green cards, here's the scoop, IMO, on SoCal:

Bakersfield. It's in the desert East of Los Angeles. Hot and sunny year round. Maybe 7 days of rain in a wet year. You'll find that endless cobalt skys without a single cloud can get pretty dreary too, though.

Quote:
-Where would we find houses at a decent price?
Same place. It's a 2 hour commute from LA, and a lot of people built homes they couldn't afford out there during the housing bubble. Now they're for sale at "bargain" (think USD 400,000) prices.

But you're 3 hours from the ocean, and that sucks. You are 6 hours from skiing at Mammoth (world class) and that doesn't suck. You are 3-4 hours from Vegas and that also doesn't suck. But again, it's the desert and you have to drive forever to go anywhere interesting. Skip the sunny deserts and deal with a little coastal fog in San Diego, Ventura, San Fransisco, or parts of LA instead (like El Segundo or Venice if you can afford it) the surf and other ocean activities are totally worth it.

No idea. Best way to be successful is to be generous. Treat people good, serve big portions at low prices, and you'll get a following of locals and an influx of tourists.
Quote:
-Are californian people racist?
With the exception of San-Diego folks and pockets of rural folks, the least racist in the States, except maybe for the East-coasters. Everybody's a little racist, but we've learned to deal with it in the US a lot better than pretty much anywhere else in the world.

-And, i'm in high school, so , is ducation good in California?
It's what you make of it. Study hard and you'll learn what you need.

Good luck. Despite my cynical words I hope that your family finds a way to emmigrate and enrich our country.
