Default Emigrating from the UK to USA (Uncle and grand father link)

I have read several resouces about emigrating from the UK to the USA and pretty much come up against a brick wall every time. It is next to impossible to get a job in the US without physically being there and we (I'm 33, wife is 27) are not eligable for the DV lottery by virtue of being English(!).

However, my granddad (father's father) lived in Detroit until his death a few years ago and my uncle lives in Texas. Could these family links open the door for my wife and I to emigrate to the USA, or are our ties too distant?

Many thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

Your ties are too distant. The only way to immigrate via these relatives would be for your uncle to petition for your parent (uncle's sibling- takes several years to get a visa) and then your parent to petition for you.

You can't immigrate through a dead relative - kind of hard for them to fill out a petition on your behalf.

Your uncle isn't close enough to you, sorry.

Try getting a job and apply for a H1B visa or buy a business over here if you have some cash...

It's not impossible, just need to apply for jobs advertised.
I will say it's almost impossible to get a visa unless you have a Bachelors degree, and Masters is preferable.
Nursing is on the shortage occupation list and has been for years , but there is a 6-7 year backlog of applications for the Green Card category (EB3) nurse fall into. That is having passed the US RN exam, job offer and petition approved.
