I've done some looking online and found the Steel Ice Center in south Bethlehem (it used to be the Flyers Skate Zone). Are there any other rinks in the valley area? And can anyone who's been to Steel Ice (or any other) comment on its upkeep, family-friendliness, or what kind of neighborhood its in? Maybe also if it's more hockey, figure, or general public focused. Anything at all is appreciated. Thanks!

Default Bethlehem redevelopment

There's alot of redevelopment in the area of south bethlehem where the ice rink is. It is a great facility and is used for all purposes, hockey, public skating etc.It is right along the river in an industrial area but very safe.
The other two rinks are in East Allentown(I think it's the Ice Arena) off of Hanover Avenue(in an alley)and Whitehall(LV Ice Arena on Rt 145 North above the malls) have hosted amateur and other skating groups and have been area staples for many years.
Good luck.

If you don't mind driving a little south on 309 there are two more: Hatfield Ice Arena and Melody Brook Ice Arena.

Default South Side Ice Rink - Steel Ice Center

Some people do not have their facts correct. Many people skate and play hockey at the Steel Ice Center and it is a vibrant arena...packed with good people and workers who care...

You may be referring to the former Ice Palace which did close...or the Rinks at Lehigh Valley - in either case, check out the Steel Ice Center.....plenty of skating sessions for the public; a friendly adult hockey league, and the most professional skating instructors in the region.

...and now with the Casino coming to the South Side, the area will only become better through redevelopment
