Default Allentown area
Hi, friends of ours are moving to PA with us but they are interested in the Allentown area. Are there some areas to stay away from? Schools are not important but job opportunities and housing is. I would appreciate any info you can share.

In Allentown proper If you stick to the west end It's real nice. Pretty much anywhere from 19th. st. west.

Downtown Allentown is filled with crime and can be a battle zone at night. Of course my daughter loves going to the clubs near Baum School of Art and I shake my head.

Bethlehem is the nicest place to live so check that out.

There are many companies in Allentown so you should not have a problem with jobs. Housing will be up there(we live 45 minutes outside Allentown) much cheaper. But there are many nice areas. Real estate Taxes will be up there.
