No addresses or solicitations for properties sale-against forum rules

Probably the largest stone mansion in Bethlehem has sold for $1.25M. Built in 1928, the Laros estate was once valued at about $3M. It has 11 Bedrooms, 7 baths, 14.5K square feet, over 5 acres with private driveway.

Seems like bad news for some luxury builders hoping to get a similar amount of money for newer houses. A 3 year old home in Easton with half as many bedrooms, half the square footage and a lot a fourth of that size sold for more.

People with the means to build or own mega mansions in this area (like Michael Andretti) are finding them difficult to sell. I am not sure you should build your dream mansion in Lehigh Valley unless you never intend to sell it.

Not only is Michael Andretti's house a mansion, it is also butt-ugly and gaudy IMO. No wonder nobody wants it!

It has a 10 acre lot, the house is over 12K square ft and is only 25 years old. Since it is next to his father's home he may have gotten the land for free. The house includes several golf holes and a tennis court as well as a pool.

But it was on the market for $3.4M for over 6 months, and was finally sold in September 2010 for $2M. I can't believe he built all that stuff for less than $2M.

You may be right about it being undesirable. I should think 10 acres of land would be worth at least $1M-$2M without the house. Usually you think of celebrity houses as selling for a premium.

PETER L SHELTON & LAURA BENNETT who bought the Laros mansion are celebrated NY couple. He is a well known architect, and she was on Project Runway in 2006.

If $1.25M seems like chump change, a developer has put his personal home on Green Acres drive in Hellertown on the market for $5M. It only has 5 bedrooms and is about 9K sq ft with over 4 acres of land right outside a green on Saucon Valley country club.

I always wonder about some of the gated places on Cedar Crest, particularly the one with the B monogram.

Birdsboro Pa has a mansion for sale at about 2 million. It has about 30 rooms and was built by one of Philadlephias premier architects over 100 years ago. The only thing lacking is the landscaping and the location.
Theres a big place for sale in Spring Township Pa near Bluemarsh lake going for about 3 million that has 80 acres included.
I've also seen two properties in Schuylkill County near Hawk Mountain/ New Ringgold with big price tags. One has 80 acres and was about 6 million with a very unique contemporary home. The other was about 2 or 3 million and had a large home but there was debate about why the asking price was so high. Some rumors were going around that a rap artist was going to buy it or owned it.

I'm pretty sure I know where the one in Center Valley is and wouldn't really call it a mansion. There are lots of houses like that in neighborhoods around here. Just check out Weyhill Woods. Most have at the most, an acre of land. When I think of mansions, I usually think of places that have wings and ballrooms, etc.
