ditto the above posts, one of my best friends has a lesbian cousin who recently moved to Allentown, and one of her reasons was that she knew she could "be herself" and it wouldn't be a big deal. Also ditto the post about New Hope, PA; huge gay population, and it's an adorable town with great shopping, restaurants, etc. I can't imagine you would find much of any discrimination in the Bucks County area; it is too close to Philly and NJ.

Diamonz is probably the best for you
I am new to being back in the area, I lived in FL for quite a while. When I moved back up I checked out Diamonz which has rainbow flags flying outside, but it was pretty boring for me, mostly women that night. I usually go to Stonewall, more guys and cute guys. Diamonz is somewhat the girl bar and stonewall is somewhat the guy bar. but in a smaller town like Allentown Bethlehem Easton gay establishments tend to be great for all of our community, I miss Jacksonville, FL a bunch a gay bars to go to and some bear/ leather bars

Reading is a slum, Allentown has really crappy areas, but is no worse off than many other cities its size.

Agreed. West Allentown is rather nice. Most of Bethlehem is nice. A lot cities in PA are starting to recover (albeit slowly), which is nice to see. I see progress being made everyday as I walk around Wilkes-Barre, and I hope to be a part of the progress in about five years when I move to Scranton.

I think Bethlehem is a great option for the both of you. I am a straight female living in the suburbs of Bethlehem and although there are still many closed minded people around, I think it is better than many areas of the world. I would have no problem with my children being taught, friends, or living next to a gay or lesbian couple. Bethlehem's Historic district is beautiful and the southside is blooming as well. There are many areas near town that could offer you everything you're looking for as far as neighborhood, yard, etc...
