That fire on the southside where 5 students were taken to the hospital (one badly burned) has not had the cause determined. My guess is that modern kids should not be allowed to move into an apartment with one bathroom. They invariably overload the place with appliances and electrical hair and skin care bathroom items.

Allentown requires that landlords rent to Muhlenberg students houses with no more than 2 residents per bathroom, and one per bedroom. They also feel that it makes the neighborhoods more livable.

This is sad. There was a fire a few years back at a Seton Hall dorm that claimed the lives of some students. I was so grateful my sister had decided to go to Rutgers instead because she would have been in that very dorm had she decided for Seton Hall. Still sad for those who died then, and wish a swift recovery to the Lehigh Students.

My nephews college house had a fire a few weeks ago when the furnace had some sort of misfire. It was a college owned house and the basement was locked from the inside of the basement so the students couldn't go down there. That is, it wasn't their fault.

Regarding the South side fire, it seems a little strange that the fire was started in a bedroom (reported in this mornings paper). Good thing all the students got out safely.
