Hi. I wanted to take my 3.5 year old fishing within say an hour of Bethlehem. I know there are plenty of lakes nearby and the Poconos have a bunch to offer, but any suggestions for places that are especially friendly for toddlers (e.g. safe, easier to catch fish)? We would catch and release anyway.

Unfortunately, I don't know much about fishing, so if you can recommend any local stores that would be very helpful. Thanks.

We went to this place when our kids were little. I think they have everything you need: Moyers Lake and Campground - No License Fishing & Camping in Coopersburg, Pennsylvania

You're always welcome to come fish in the Little Lehigh in our backyard, or farther downstream past the fish hatchery at Little Lehigh Park. Lots of fly fishermen there.

I'm not local but usually any small lake or pond is the best place to take a small child. They usually have an abundance of blue gills so there is plenty of action. If you have any state owned parks/lakes in the area check them out.

As far as what store I'd head to local sporting goods store if you have any around, they would be the most helpful.

Thanks all. We ended up going to Moyer's and got everything we needed from there (rod, reel, hooks, bait). They have a stocked trout pond, which is great for toddlers and newbies (like me). They also have a larger pond for other fish. Until my son is a bit older, I think this is the place to do.
