We are relocating to Lehigh Valley and are trying to determine the best place to be for special education. We hav e a 2 year old with autism. We are looking for any info regarding great autism classrooms 2years old and up both public and private. Any recommendations for a place to be? Anyone know of a private program for children with autism under age 3....any classroom setting. He is currently in an autism classroom 4 days a week for 2 and a half hours...anyhting like that there? I have contacted the IUs, but of course they all think they are great! Does anyone know of any full day programs...even private? We will consider Monroe, Northampton, Bucks, Lehigh and perhaps Berks, Carbon....to get what he needs!
THANK YOU

My wife has worked for over 5 years with autistic kids in the Lehigh Valley. PM me with your email address and we can talk about what you are looking for and give you provider/school information.

Click on "Lehigh Valley Native" in the upper left of the post.
A little drop-down menu will appear. Click on "send a direct message" and there you go!

My older son has Asperger's and was diagnosed at Good Shepherd Pediatrics in Allentown. He was able to get some additional services there - you may want to call and see what they offer to perhaps supplement the school-based services if you need to.

All of the public schools will provide services. I know autistic kids in our school district, they are not usually put into a seperate school but may have a one-on-one aide.

Default Also looking for autism sevices

My husband is accepting a position in Minneapolis (we are from VA). Since we are from a rural area, we would like to find a neighborhood and schools that are somewhat on the outskirts and not in the city. We have an 8 year old with severe autism and a typical 5 year old. Could anyone suggest neighborhoods that are not houses on top of houses and smaller schools? The company is flying us up next month to meet with a Realtor. We would like to have some ideas before going. THANKS!

umm, Minneapolis is in Minnesota. That would be a heck of a commute from Pennsylvania.
