I have lived in the bangor area my whole life. It's a great area to live in.The people are very friendly,it is a great place to raise kids.I wouldn't live anywhere but the slate belt.Roseto is a cute little town.Down town Bangor is full of little shops there is a little something for every one. There is usually something going on down town. There are events different weakends. The Christmas events are starting this week.I can't say enuff great things you will just have to move here to find out for yourself. The only thing is if you like a fast paced rushing life style this is not the town for you. I hope this was information is helpful

Happy New Year to everyone. I was in Bangor this week and fell in LOVE with the area. I plan on moving there as soon as my house here sells. Bangor is everything that I hoped it would be. There are some houses that look as if they could use some paint but over all it is a nice peaceful area. Roseto is also very nice. I was not impressed with East Bangor.....

Default Bangor!

My husband and I work in Bangor and surrounding areas (Realtors) and there are some great homes at lower costs in that area compared to other ares. It is a small town and a bit of a distance from larger shopping such as malls. Depending on where your at in Bangor it is also about 15 minutes from the highways.

I know bangor pretty well, considering I have live in the area for over 15 years and travel through Bangor almost everyday. Bangor can be a nice town, although I must warn you the school isn't that great. But if you are concerned about that you can send you kids to another school or homeschool them. Some streets in Bangor are nicer than others (some aren't very well taken-care of, but then again every town has streets like that right) Bangor doesn't have much in the way of jobs but it's pretty close to Rt. 80 so you could commute somewhere if necessary. Bangor has a small general store, Mr. Z's, 2 dollar stores, a pizza place, 1 bar/restaurant, some hardware stores and the like. If you want to shop a lot you either have to travel to Strousburg, Easton, Allentown/Bethlehem, or over to New Jersey. It is a small little town with not that much crime for the most part. Bangor itself isn't that nice to look at most of the time, but the surrouding areas can be beautiful. It's close to the Delaware River as well. Overall, Bangor is a nice town, but it's nothing too special. And Personally I don't think Bangor is stuck in the 50s. (granted i didnt live in the 50s so i cant be sure )

Hope I helped!

oh and i forgot to mention, Bangor isn't really close nit. Most people don't even know their neighbors. Roseto, the neighboring town is much more close-nit Italian people. Bangor is becoming more and more diversified.

FWIW, 1960's bombshell Jayne Mansfield is buried in Pen Argyl.

I grew up near the area and my parents taught at the high school in Pen Argyl. The Slate Belt (which includes the towns of Wind Gap, Pen Argyl, Roseto, Bangor, and East Bangor) is a good area. The towns aren't super-attractive, but they aren't ugly and rundown either. As was noted above there is a large Italian heritage in many of these towns, especially Roseto. The two public schools there are Pen Argyl (serving Pen Argyl and Wind Gap) and Bangor (serving Bangor, Roseto, and East Bangor), while the private, Catholic school is Pius X (pronounced Pius the Tenth), based in Roseto. One thing many people like is the close-up view of the Blue Mountain (i.e. the first ridge in the Appalachian Mountains); Pen Argyl in particular is built on the south side of this mountain.

This is a good area and give it ky stamp of approval. The area is home to the infamous Ron Angle. I personally like Ron Angle and believe he is misunderstood.

Help I'm Stuck in Bangor is on a distinguished road
Default Bangor

I'm from New Jersey so maybe I see things that others don't. Bangor's Police force is clueless and useless. We have drugs here. We have plenty of it dealt all through the 3 blocks of Downtown. It is on my street on South Second. I have called them and nothing gets done. I have had Meth heads knock on my door or rather pound on it. ..looking for the drug dealers down the street. Don't get me started on the school system. Can one say it is only three years behind decent standards. I moved here to save money. I thought it looked like a nice quiet burg... I guess if you have the money to live on the tree top aera it looks appealing...but hell they can drive. The Police Blotters keep things hush hush...to make this place look nice. Appearences are deceivng. It is not safer...Roseto is nicer I will give you that. Bangor is a sess pool. You have to submit a list of who lives in your house. I'm sorry what country do we live in again? Plus in NJ I paid my taxes and I didn't have to pay for water sewer and garbage. Telephone is more expensive and so is electricity. NJ is way better and I am doing all I can to move back there.
