question about cable?
So we re moving to lower macungie, sometime in late april early may.
We are looking into cable, and internet.
I think someone told us we will have service cable, and electric?
Does this sound familiar to anyone? If it does can someone give me an idea of the packages, and the prices?
Thanks, Kathy

That's not true. We have RCN here in Lower Macungie also - and it it way better than Service Electric. We used to have Service Electric when we lived in northeast PA and it was very limited.
Here is the link RCN Portal
We have the bundle of phone, internet and cable (with DVR) and it's $135/month (w/taxes and all).

That sounds great Kristy! Did you have a choice? Where I am there is no choice for cable, you can get a dish or Service Electric. I would love to have a choice because Service Electric just raised their rate to $67. a month with just cable and we pay $40 a month for internet.

Yes, we did have a choice - service electric or RCN. And I think service electric is more expensive.

Try this
https://shop.rcn.com/shop/Controller...START_CVGENTRY and see if it works, otherwise, give them a call.

I'm a bit north of you, but in our area the Service Electric signal is much more reliable than the RCN (we have frequent power outages during storms, etc.). You have to ask around because obviously this varies from one area to another. Since we've had both providers, I can say that this year one will be cheaper, and then the next year the other will be, it varies back and forth.
Also, if RCN doesn't offer something in your area yet, be wary of their promises. We purchased their cable internet a few years back. It was good service. They only offered one-way cable but promised that two-way would be coming very soon. We had their service for over two years and still no two-way. We finally got fed up and purchased DSL through our telephone provider.
These days we have to have Service Electric - they are the cable TV provider for the velodrome and when my son races I like to watch/record him

Some developments have exclusivity contracts with cable companies. Service Electric Cable TV provides cable, phone and internet. They do not provide electricity. The other provider is RCN but your neighborhood may only be wired by one or the other depending on whether the buider took a payoff. I believe this was ruled illegal by the courts recently but you still need the wiring for either and if it was never laid in during the building of the infrastructure you probably will not have a choice. They both offer package deals.
