My thoughts

I thought the area around downtown were very very old, houses looked like they were falling down but of course they ere not just old looking and small.

Is that are a poor or just the look there?

I looked at apartments at at building next to Moravian Football field mixed use but that area turned me off.

The went on Easton towards 78 to I guess a place called Bethlehem Township which seemed much nicer and home nicer and some new developments which looked cool along 78

Men and Ladies I need thoughts here on both places.

Thank You

Its probably just the general look of the area, the citys of the area are old industrial towns and are made up of alot of old row houses, some in good condition and some not so much.

Bethlehem was settled in the 1700's, so you're going to find mostly old homes. :-) I personally love the homes on the North side to the North of the Main Street. You can check zillow to find a general idea of pricing. What appeals to you is subjective. Live where you want and what you can afford.

I like Bethlehem Township better

I also noticed food prices at supermarkets approx 15% cheaper than North East NJ area

Weird

Are these areas poor??

We liked the area around 378 & 8th east (lived there for a yr).....and up Easton or Linden was fine too....found all of it to be nice, plenty of restaurants, shopping. We really liked dwntwn Bethlehem, so chose to be closer to the city. Also, Liked the easy freeway access to Poconos & NYC....convenient healthcare. For us Bethlehem (city) felt much more ‘neighborhood’, Bethlehem Twp, more ‘subdivision’....we really liked being able to walk downtown and to hiking trails and lots of parks.
One fyi....along south I 78 there is a huge landfill area.....talk to residents and do lots of homework if you consider that area. We eliminated it.

I'm not sure what you mean by "poor". I grew up in downtown Bethlehem. It offers a range of housing from expensive to affordable. I'm also not sure what you're looking for. If you want newer homes, then you have to choose a township with newer construction. If you want what a downtown city has to offer then you either have to have the budget to afford something much pricier that is restored or you have to be willing to live in something less updated. Lower cost of living (in terms of groceries) is just that. It's cheaper to live in PA relatively speaking than in NJ. That's why many choose to live here and commute there for work.

Bethlehem Township is cheap because the high school is Bethlehem (which doesn’t get the best scores), but the middle and elementary schools are fine. It also has a lot of daycare and grocery options.

I don’t live there, but drive through enough to see that there are some questionable areas, but for the most part, it’s nice and pretty suburban.
