My mother was from Easton and I've visited a few times when I was younger and often thought of moving there. I currently live in Austin TX with a roommate and pay about $900 a piece for a 2 bed 2 bath apt. I would only need a studio or one room there. I'm also hoping for a city that's got decent public transport, I have a car but I hate all the upkeep and would really like to get rid of it. Just trying to get a feel of what my monthly costs might be? Also is Easton more liberal or conservative? Thanks for any info.

There are many people from NY/NJ and also Philly, DE, and MD areas who attended Lafayette and chose to stay in the area. One such person is the legendary Aaron David who has remained in the area after graduating College in the early 90's. Transportation wise if you wish not to keep a vehicle it's fine. Lanta bus is reasonably good. During regular business hours you can take 2 buses to both Bethlehem and Allentown.

I worked in downtown Easton a few times. The last time was for a well known tax/bank right in town. It was a long bus ride. The job was stressful, but just to work in downtown Easton was a charm. I went to DUnkin Donuts every morning and on occasion I visited Mothers Bar. I enjoyed the vibes.

Northampton County is a purple county. It went blue in 2020, but just barely. It's a nice little city with an excellent theatre, restaurants, bars and farmers market. It has public transportation but I honestly don't know how good it is. There is no rail service.

I found this cost comparison tool for the COL but Easton isn't listed. Allentown and Philadelphia are. Easton will be more expensive then Allentown but probably less expensive than Philadelphia, so look at those two and figure it's in between. I'll say though the closer you get to the state line, the more expensive because there are a lot of people that commute to Northern Jersey and NYC but live in PA. https://www.nerdwallet.com/cost-of-l...hiladelphia-pa

I just moved from Easton because I found it to be a very toxic place. I moved in 2019 from the west coast. My neighbors on Adams Rd. were pretty hostile towards us. 1. because we were transplants 2. My husband works in tech and we are liberal 3. we do not attend church.
Right away, my neighbor let me know that we had nothing in common and that our children would not be having play dates. She let me know where our boundary lines were. Our mail would get taken, trash left in front of our house. They obtained a rooster and simply didn’t care that the noise bothered us. Very crass people, more abusive than what I will write here. The other neighbors around were no better. We felt pushed out, we moved. Fortunately, we got a nice little bump from the market. I feel that the town in general hates outsiders. I would warn anybody not to buy here.
