Question Is Harrisburg "safe"?

I am a woman who will be driving down south to NC from up north with my daughter. We wanted to break the trip up and stay over nite somewhere and Harrisburg seemed like a good location, map wise. I hate to ask this but is Harrisburg safe? We will be staying in a hotel right off route 81. Please advise if this is a good place for us to rest for the night. If not, maybe someone has another suggestion. Thanks in advance.

I've never heard of Harrisburg as a dangerous city before but as usual when traveling, use your street smarts and check the reviews on tripadvisor. Have a safe trip!

Anywhere off Route 81 is fine.

Just stayed in Harrisburg a couple weeks ago as a stop over too. We drove into the downtown area along the river, beautiful old homes and crossed the bridge to "City Island" which was delightful. If you make it a stop off again you might want to check it out. The minor league ballpark takes up much of it with a park surrounding it that includes a putt-putt course and a little train/trolley that rides around the island, just delightful!
