Default Auburn Station Apts / Safe area in Allentown?

Greetings. My family will be relocating to Pennsylvania from the Midwest in July. My husband and I have never been East, and unfortunately will not be able to make a trip out to secure housing in person. We're attempting to do all our research via the web and will have to sign a lease for a place site unseen...which is a little scary.

Has anyone heard of the loft apartments in Allentown called Auburn Station?
It's located at 375 Auburn Street at Basin Street. We're completely unfamiliar with Allentown...is this a relatively safe area?

Any opinions or advice will be much appreciated.

Max,
I was hoping that someone that lives in Allentown would answer, but they didn't so I'll give it a shot. I only know that area from driving through Allentown. On the plus side, it's within walking distance of Amigo Mio Cafe. A better choice would be to the WEST of the city. West of maybe Ott Street. Good luck with your move.

Not knowing anything about your family, I'd recommend staying west of 15th St. The west side of town is the most attractive and has the big grocery stores, etc. I live right downtown, but my job is there, too. You might also consider Bethlehem; it's a lovely place, and has relatively few dicery areas. Good Luck!

Welcome Max!
Bethlehem is a much nicer location and is quick and easy to most points in Allentown. The area you are looking at is not the greatest, I would try to find a few more options and post them for input. Good luck!

I would choose Bethlehem over Allentown if I wanted to live in one of those two cities, but really, West Allentown, is in Parkland School District and has nice homes and Parkland is a better school district then Bethlehem.
