Thanks!

How about driving to Philadelphia and catching a flight on Southwest? Okay, that only goes to Providence but ugh (!) the drive to Boston!

Maybe I can help.

Although I don't live in the Lehigh Valley, I do hope to move there in the future and I travel through there on my way to my parents in Western MA.

Due to traffic, I try to avoid 95 at all costs. So I go to Jersey and take 87 N until 84 W, which I take all the way to Hartford. At Hartford, I hop on 91 N to head to my parents, but since you are going to Boston, you can take 84, I think, all the way to 90 which will lead you to Boston.
Go Sawx!

From the Lehigh Valley, you can also take 33 north to I-80 west, then get on I-380 north and hit I-84 at Scranton.

Going from the LV to boston, you've got a few choices

Drive:
313 Miles -- this is the route I suggest..
from:allentown to:41.071069,-73.894043 to:boston - Google Maps
(the 33 to 209 to 84 route is good too, it's much more scenic and there's much less traffic, but it can take a little longer, depending on traffic)

Bus:
You can get a bus into New York (look up Bieber or Transbridge) ($35ish round trip)
Take the subway down to chinatown ($2)
get a chinatown bus up to boston
(such as Lucky Star Bus, Boston - New York Bus Service or you could look at peter pan or greyhound, which may put you in an easier to get to part of the city)

i personally think the buses are kind of shady, and would rather take the train...

Train:
take the Bieber or Transbridge buses into new york
you can walk from the port authority to penn station
where you'll be able to catch a train to boston (try to make reservations with amtrak in advance, especially if you want to use a AAA discount)

Airplane:
you'll need to get to the airport (ABE, PHL, EWR..) and you'll need a taxi from logan airport to where ever you're staying

Hi all,

Thanks for your responses. My inclination was to take a bus to NYC and then a bus to Boston. I took that route (Transbridge to the Chinatown bus) when I was in college (I went to Lehigh). I may take Amtrak or a BoltBus instead of the Chinatown bus.

Thanks!

Ah, yes that's exactly what my daughter did when she went to Boston - she took the Bieber bus to NYC and then made her way to Chinatown and took the Chinatown bus to Boston.
