well, really our only choice for relocation is NJ or Pa.My husband works from Newark and needs to be able to drive there.Otherwise,we would never be leaving where we are in Wi! We love it here-Great schools, great community, kids activities, family, reasonable taxes. We were hoping to find somewhere we liked equally as much.Possible???

I would say that if you love where you live in Wisconsin, you should stay there. I believe that you would be taking a step down in quality of life. The grass is not greener on the other side in this situation. PA is not perfect, especially the Lehigh Valley. Like everywhere else, you get what you pay for- the nice communities are very expensive here. If you see a cheap home, I can guarantee there is a reason for it. Driving from the Lehigh Valley to Newark everyday is no picnic. Newark is a very dangerous, dirty, heavily-polluted city with tons of traffic. Route 78 is a nightmare. Believe me, I am not trying to discourage you; if the job can't be passed up, then take it. But I've been through Wisconsin a few times, and it really can't be compared to North Jersey and the Lehigh Valley. Just fair warning, and I hope someone else on here does the same for me when I am looking at moving to a worse area.

well, that is certainly not encouraging! But unfortunately,it's the same job he's had for the last 11 years. He currently commutes from Wi to Newark! So,something like alittle drive in traffic will be nothing!I understand that you get what you pay for.We are willing and expect, that our cost of living will increase. But we feel the trade off will be worth it-to be able to get to work in acouple hours vs. a whole day! We just need to know that there are some nice areas/great schools and good quality of life there.I've only been to Pa. one time-in Oct when we drove in on 78 from Newark to Lehigh valley It was beautiful!

Ok. I didn't realize he was commuting from Wisconsin to Newark. Talk about extreme commuting! The drive west on Route 78, especially in October, is nice with the rolling hills in flaming colors. And there are certainly nice areas in the Lehigh Valley, you can have a decent quality of life there, IMHO. It certainly depends on where you go, just as the inner city Milwaukee areas can't be compared to Door County or Madison, etc.

I agree that Forks Township is very nice, and closer to NJ than some of the other areas. If you can afford it, I think that Upper Bucks County is much nicer than anywhere in the Lehigh Valley. Check out Springfield Township, Nockamixon Township, and Tinicum Township- real nice, suburban/rural living.
