Default Considering leaving the Lehigh VAlley area

This post is two-fold: We are in the Lehigh Valley area (East Penn schools); I really like it here, but have learned that neighborhood living is not for us. We want something a bit more rural, but I want to be close enough to get to shopping, events, etc. I have been looking into the Northwestern Lehigh S.D. area. Can anyone give me some thoughts about this? Also, I have even thought about moving down toward York and Reading areas. Which one is more similar to LV. area? Pros and Cons?
Thanks!

Have you looked at the area to the west of Emmaus, into Berks County? I love the looks of the little town of Topton. I have no idea of the schools out there but it's alot more rural and very pretty but you would still be able to get to the cities of Allentown or Reading easily.

I have, but it seems Boyertown S.D. is the better school out that way. Otherwise, I'd be looking down near Reading. Do you have an opinion regarding York and Reading areas? I'm afraid to leave here for something less desireable. That's why I was looking into the Northwestern Lehigh S.D. Pretty country-like, a little far away from L.V. happenings, but it would be worth it. Any advice on York, Reading would be great. Thanks!

We looked at York College a few years ago when my son was college shopping and I didn't like the city much at all. I can't say I'm a big fan of Reading either. Of the small cities in Eastern PA, I think we're pretty lucky to have Bethlehem and to a lesser extent, Allentown. Of course, that's just my own opinion.

Thanks again for the opinion...sometimes they matter more than facts! I do really like it here in the LV.; I don't want to leave, so maybe the N.western S.D is the choice for me. I've never been down to York or Reading. I value your opinion, so thank you! Maybe somewhere in Bethlehem might work? We drive back home alot on the turnpike and I've always liked the area outside of A-town but just before the tunnel. Not sure what the area is, maybe Slatington? Walnutport? It's pretty. But again, the schools are most important. Any suggestions out that way? Thanks again!!!
