Default Columbus Day

Hi Folks, I was wondering if Columbus Day is considered a holiday where most people have the day off from work. The reason I am asking is because I plan on driving from Allentown to Newark on that morning, which is a Monday morning, and I was hoping since it is a holiday that traffic wouldn't be that bad. And if you think it's not such a holiday, when would be a better time of the day to make this trip? There isn't any special time on this day I need to make this trip, but I'm just trying to avoid really bad traffic if at all possible. Any thoughts on this?

Default Leave early or later

If you are taking 78 -- I'd say anytime after 10am should hopefully be a breeze depending on construction schedules and all that else if you can get on 78 by 6:00am you should be able to breeze through and be in Newark early if thats an option.

Although the traffic is fairly heavy, compared to our local roads, we don't usually have trouble getting to Newark any times other then rush hour. Columbus day is pretty much a holiday just for state, federal workers and banks as far as I know. Our library is open and my husband will also be going to work that day.
