I've lived in Emmaus for the past 14 years, and I love it! It's got a small town feel, but very close to all the shopping/activities of Allentown and Bethlehem. Housing prices are quite expensive though, as the East Penn School District is well regarded. We live in a half a twin with about a 1/4 of an acre and it cost us $108K about 8 years ago. About a dozen twins in our development (same size house, but we have the biggest lot in the development) have sold in the last 2 years for $215K or so (and these twins are 20 years old). Macungie is growing by leaps and bounds, but it's also EPSD and houses are very expensive there as well. There really aren't any trailer parks/land w/trailers on them directly around here.

You said you're a single mom, are your kids school age? If so, I would try to find something in the EPSD, Parkland SD or Southern Lehigh SD.

As far as work, Lehigh Valley Hospital is a huge employer, and St Luke's Hospital is fairly large as well. Directly across from LVH is a group of office buildings filled mainly with medical professionals (dentists, psychologists, counselors, lab services, etc). If you are looking for more of a PT school psychologist position, there are quite a few districts within driving distance to check out.

OK, after a little thought, I believe there is a trailer park (Green Acres?) on Route 222 in Trexlertown (Route 222 is a major road around here). You might check around Trexlertown and see if some of there older twins might be lower in price (although, I highly doubt you'll find a non-trailer house w/a yard in a safe neighborhood for under $150K). There is another trailer park near Ironton/Egypt (Parkland SD) as well. Your best bet as far as a yard would probably be somewhere on the outskirts of Allentown or Bethlehem, Q-town, or Whitehall. You might also want to check out houses in the Pennridge SD (near Q-town). Let me know if you have specific questions or anything you need clarified.
