Northampton and Bethlehem Areas
We was wondering how the Northampton and Bethlehem areas fared during all the recent flooding. We are considering a move to either of those areas and would like to know how they did. Also, how are those areas in the amount of snow they get in the winter? And how are the areas to live in, in general? My mother-in-law lives in Allentown, but we don't want to live there. However, we don't want to be too far away from her. Any information will be very much appreciated. Thanks much.

Easton flooded hard
Easton, in Northampton County, was hit pretty hard. It was the third time in two years. Easton is a hilly city, so only the area right along the river was hit. Inland was fine. Most of the the rest of Northampton and Bethlehem was okay.

Flooding
Hello, i'm Kate. I'm from the Northampton district, and our area wasn't hit too badly, but as the last person stated, Easton was drenched with the rain, and was immediately declared an emergency area. Yes, it is pretty hilly, and the city lays along the Delaware River, so those there were hit the hardest.
As to the winter time, the snow can get pretty high at times, especially with the drifts, but we haven't gotten majorly hit in a few years. Snow usually accumulates up to about 6-8 inches on average, I would say.
I hope that you find what you are looking for here in this area. Good Luck, and hope to hear of your progress.

Thanks PreciousK and Phish Head. I will keep checking this forum. I've already learned a lot from what folks have written here. It's great to have this site to refer to.

As stated the downtown Easton area was hit hard but the rest of Norco did not have any major damage. I would reccomend living in North Bethlehem or Bethlehem Township. I live in South Bethlehem and I like the area due to nightlife and the arts but realisticly it can be a pretty rough place. Stay out of Allentown. for sure. It's a dump of a city!
