Hey all, thanks for the help so far. More questions in general about the climate in the Lehigh Valley in terms of what to expect in the middle of summer winter.

We're moving from mid-Missouri where it gets hot and humid in the summer, fairly cold in the winter but not a lot of snow

Winters: How cold does it get, and how much does wind chill play a role? What does a typical snow storm bring, and how often does it snow? Do some cities do a better job plowing the roads than others?

Summers:
What is the typical temp in the dog days (July-August)? Does it get humid much or is it just heat from temperature? How essential is central air in the summer? We're noticing a lot of the older homes don't have it and are wondering whether we need to consider plunking some money into it to have it installed.

Thanks in advance.

This site will give you all the weather history that you need to know: Weather History & Data Archive : Weather Underground

I think it's hard to define a typical winter because each year seems to be different. This year it started early and snowed quite a bit. I think plowing is done well in my area but his does vary from township to township and perhaps road to road depending on if it's a county or state road. Schools tend to close if the roads will be bad.

i do not think it gets too cold here--we go outside all the time in the winter to play and it is nothing compared to michigan not many days of bitter winds. we had to scrape the cars often this winter--so even if there wasn't snow, there was still frost in the am. main roads are always well treated in advance of a snowstorm, sometimes even overtreated because nothing too big comes.

it gets surprisingly hot (but not too humid--i lived in new orleans for a summer and THAT was some wet air) for a few months in the summer. we have central air and it is on today. however, our neighbors don't, and they spend their afternoons on their front porch, which stays cooler. they also have window acs for their bedrooms.
