Default Where are the farming areas in the Lehigh Valley

Where would be considered the best farming area's in Lehigh,? i mean small community farms where one could grow their own vegetables and maybe have some horses or chickens.

I have been looking in some areas but never found any real farming areas and would be interested in buying like a house there with a few acre's of land, maybe even if a small farmhouse on the land would be ideal also.

I currently live in another state but with the help of my girlfriend who lives in the suburbs of Philadelphia we have been driving around looking at houses and places where we may want to buy, but we never came across any farming areas, with me been a country man at heart i like the land and feel very comfortable there.

If anyone has any ideas or feedback it would be fantastic and much appreciated.

Thanks

In Lehigh county, townships in the northwestern area are probably best. Lynn, Heidelberg, Lowhill, Weisenberg are townships to look at.

As the previous poster mentioned, Lower Milford in the southern part of the valley is good. They have a lot of preserved farmland there. It's a bit closer to major highways and more populated areas.

In Northampton county there are also options. Lower/Upper Mt. Bethel, Washington, and Moore (northern part) may be worth a look.

Farmland in other areas of the Valley likely has development/subdivision potential and will be priced accordingly. You can find "farmland" in many townships in the Valley, but zoning, topography, access to utilities, distance to "civilization," etc. will determine whether it's priced at $250,000 or $2.5 million.
