Default RCN or Service Electric?

We are moving to North Whitehall and I was wondering which service is better for cable tv, phone and internet.

Thanks!

Sometimes there is a limited choice. In our neighborhood, if you want cable, you get Service Electric. If you want Dish, you would go with the local phone provider which is Frontier. We have Service Electric for cable, phone and internet and are satisfied.

Verizon is good for phone, internet and cable. They have a partnership with Directv for discounted rates so it all comes on one bill.

both kind of suck. i'm in south whitehall and have directv along with service electric for cable. if i didn't have the dish i believe i would go with RCN over directv though, since I have an HDTV and their lineup seems better than what service electric offers. I've hear rumors for years that Verizon fios is coming to the LV, and I hear people say that it's in certain communities, maybe around Easton? I dunno for sure, but if it were available I'd take that.

I would go for Verizon if it was available, but it's not in my neighborhood yet. They have been saying that they were coming for years.

FIOS is definitely not in Easton. My neighbor is a Verizon Executive and he found out for me since I have a new building in Easton.

I've heard that downtown Allentown would most likely be the first place to get it.

We have RCN and it's fine. Reliable internet. Wish they had more HD channels though. Our neighborhood is "wired" for FIOS, but their website still shows not available.

I saw this article on the Morning Call website:

Verizon bundles problems -- themorningcall.com

Based on my experience Verizon is the absolute worst company when it comes to billing issues with their "bundled" services. My uncle was having problems with his bill and his attempts to resolve it were unsuccessful and asked me to look into it. Over the course of a two month period I talked to 19 different reps to try and resolve the issue. I was lied to, yelled at, and hung up on by their "customer service" reps. At this point we were ready to cancel services when their "executive relations" department finally returned my call. It was a two hour call while she conferenced me in with all the departments that were involved and I negotiated 6 months of free service.

Since then my uncle has received correct bills but if we have to deal with something like this again they will have one chance to get it right or we will cancel their services.

I have had the exact opposite experience with the Verizon bundle package. I did have a billing issue not long after I started the service and it was handled quickly and professionally. I did have to speak to two different people but that is because the first person I spoke to didn't seem to have authority to fix the situation (I don't even remember what it was) and I asked to be connected with the manager. I was and the manager could not have been more helpful and friendly and quickly rectified the situation. It does sometimes depend on how you handle yourself as to how helpful the customer service may be with any company. Unfortunately, there will always be someone who has an issue with something but I know many others who have the Verizon bundle and they have not had any negative issues either.

I agree with you that a large part of it has to deal with how you treat the customer service rep. You have to be nice for them to actually want to help. I was always calm and professional. This is the only company that I truly had a horrible experience with. I am glad that you are satisfied and hope that it continues to be a positive experience.
