Most beautiful place to live in Lehigh Valley?
Someone told me that there are some areas they call Penntucky. Where are some beautiful areas to live or visit? We are moving there soon.

It's been called Pennsyltucky, but that's pretty much an insult. I would not suggest repeating that to the locals. There are lots of beautiful area's around here. I like the rolling hills in Lower Milford township in my area and the area out by New Tripoli.

The Pennsyltucky insult is about culture, not about the beauty of the valley.

The State College area is a great place to live, or anywhere else in Centre County for that matter. Beautiful area, great schools, Penn State, nice little shops, restaurants, bars, outdoor paradise and access to many parks, lakes, mountains, major highways and is 2 hour to Pittsburgh, 3.5 to NYC, 3.5 to Washington, DC and about 3ish to Philly.

Besides the fact that State College is a a few hours from the Lehigh Valley, you are right. It's a beautiful area.

Is it an insult to people from Kentucky? Because now I'm insulted.
Green land, rolling hills, beautiful valleys... Good people... crime free!
This maybe a short move.
... I really dont think we are going to like it up there.

The Pennsyltucky reference, as I understand it, is not made by those from PA, but from those outside of PA who look upon that beautful rolling farmland, green mountains and figure everyone is a backwards hick who hasn't been to school since the 3rd grade when they left to work the farm. It's degrading to anyone and only insensitive people who believe they are better than everyone else use it. They have a similar term for the more rural parts of Michigan. Possibly in other states too, but these are the only two I've personally encountered.
I've found PA (and MI) to have wonderful folk that I am proud to consider my friends. Just like any other state in this great country. There are good apples and bad apples no matter where you go.
Please don't let that turn you off to the state.

Pennsyltucky is more of an insult towards the non-urban areas of PA. Most of PA is very rural. Pennsyltucky isn't real common though. The more common phrase is that PA is Pittsburgh and Philadelphia with Alabama in between. Anyone that says this is either being rude and doesn't know PA, or it's a local Pennsylvanian joking around. There are plenty of nice small towns in PA, like Harrisburg, Carlisle, Lebanon, State College, Lancaster...and that's just in the eastern part.
