Default I've arrived in Whitehall

I just arrived in Whitehall. I came from Tulsa, Oklahoma. I've been reading everyone's posts, some with trepidation, others with encouragement that things are only as good as the effort that one puts into them. I figure as long as I have a positive attitude, willing to adjust, things will work out.

I know those of you reading this are wondering why I would relocate from Tulsa to Whitehall. I boils down to three letters, J-O-B. I was laid-off from my job in Tulsa (I'm a production engineer in printed circuit assembly), and was offered a job here in Allentown. The electronics industry in Tulsa (what little there was to begin with), has just collapsed. I couldn't fathom sitting around for months and months waiting for things to pick back up again. So I made the move. This is probably more information than you need to know about me, but it is what it is.

I'm a renter, single, and was looking for something that wasn't fancy. I was flown out for my interview and only had a couple of days to look around for a place to live and secure something after I was given my job offer. I looked at an apartment in the Willow Crest apartments off of McArthur and I-22, and found that the apartment would suit my needs just fine. I don't need a whole lot. After reading some of the posts, I understand that it may not be in the best area, but I'm willing to give it a chance. I know the traffic might suck a little because of the mall, but I've dealt with bad traffic when I was in San Jose, Ca. years ago. There are also those that have said crime in the area is a problem, but crime is everywhere, is it really as bad as some make it out to be?

Of course I'm hoping that a lot of the negative posts are overblown, but should I really be paranoid?

Good luck in finding what you are looking for. Take a ride up into North Whitehall, it's a beautiful area with rolling hills and views.
