Home Heating Need Advise
We have a 45 year old ranch home with oil hotwater baseboard heat and oil hot water. Both the oil take and furnace are the originals. We just had it serviced and our friend mentioned that it looks like it might be time to change the tank, he told us to keep an eye on it.
Now the question is it worth it? We will have to change the furnace sooner or later even though it is still running well, you just never know since it is so old.
Natural gas is not an option here and we dont like propane, we had it before in another house. With the prices of oil going up and down we arent sure we wait to play the oil game anymore. So we are trying to consider all of our options.
The furnace and oil tank are in the basement and we have a pellet stove on the main floor of the living area. Last year we only used the oil for hotwater.
Any suggestions on what to do? Is there an electric furance that we could hook up to the hotwater baseboards in case we needed heat? We also were thinking about converting over to electric hotwater. Is there any other option that we arent thinking about?
Any ideas would be appreciated!
