Yes, now that you mention it, I think we did, but I thought it was about Hazleton. Anyway, you're just a young'un, and all my close relatives were much older and they've moved away or died and their kids have gone elsewhere. Did you know any Heydt or Knappenberger kids? Maybe some of my mom's younger cousin's kids would be about your age. And the Melbers - Jimmy Melber of Melber's funeral home is married to my mom's cousin.

LOL - that's amazing...YES, I know tons of Heydt's and Knappenbergers, and I know Jimmy Melber very well. Many of them lived "out the mountain" .. which is where I lived. Small world. Are you still in contact with any of them?

Oh - and regarding Hazleton...that's very possible...my Dad is from there and I lived there for a few years as well.

Default Jim Thorpe

Wonderful pictures! My sisters and I just spent the weekend there, visiting cousins and just strolling around the quaint town. Our parents were born and raised there until they married at 21 years of age, and most of our family still remains, we all live in the Lansdale, Telford area. I never knew why Jim Thorpe was referred to as "Little Switzerland" until I visited Switzerland, striking similarities from the architecture, the surrounding mountains and the Lehigh River. Just a note, my great-grandfather (Schweibenz) owned the old Hotel Switzerland which is in one of your fabulous pictures!

Haha, it's weird seeing the pictures of the town in a forum on the internet (hey, even my tattoo shop is on there!). I live in the town next door, Lehighton, so I get to Jim Thorpe pretty often. You should see it when theres snow, or when the big St. Patrick's Day parade is. It gets crazy.
