Additional Lexington area questions
Hello all,
Still waiting for some response to my earlier post regarding Lexington area. Please read and get back with me. Have additional questions also, 1. How's the golf in this area? and 2. How about snakes? are they dangerous, plentiful, not to worry? I'm deathly afraid of them and don't wish to have any surprises . Let me know and thanks for all your help.

There are numerous golf courses in this area, both public and private.
As far as snakes I see an occasional garden snake. If you're in town that's about all you should encounter.

The golfing here is plentiful. There are many beautiful courses and new ones being built. I have seen about five snakes my whole life here in Lexington and I'm 26 years old. I wouldn't worry, we are country here but not that country!!

I agree with the above. I'm almost 45 though and have only seen one snake here in my life. I don't raise a garden though, which could possibly attract that variety. Snakes aren't an issue in town/sub divisions.

I have only seen one snake in town in the past 22 years. It was only about 8 inches long. I don't golf, but we do have plenty of city and private owned courses.

I was born and grew up and lived in Lexington till I was 38 yrs old, then moved out of state for husband's job, came back to Lexington for 5 years and moved out of state again just last year, and still have parents and family there. Lexington is a nice place to live and raise children. It has 4 distinct seasons, with what some would call mild winters, however, I have known some harsh ones there. But, I don't like the cold and recently chose to move back to HOT TEXAS! Anyway, as far as snakes, I think you would mostly see grass snakes or garden variety snakes in the Lexington area. They are harmless. I know of two very old but very nice and beautiful golf courses; they are Idlehour and Lexington, both with country club memberships available. But there are numerous other very nice courses. Lexington has a very beautiful and desireable historic park area near the University of Kentucky and downtown area. I lived in the center of that park for 5 years in a home on the National Historic Registry. VERY nice neighborhood with VERY nice people. If you have any other specific questions I would be happy to answer those for you. My dad has been a Lexington business owner for over 60 years and my family knows a lot of people and a lot about Lexington.

Unless you are out in the country a ways, snakes are not a problem. I haven't seen one in years. Golf courses will not blow you away but are plenty good enough. I suppose the selling point would be that you could be playing longer here than in Michigan.
I know a Michigan AF retiree. All of his fam was Michigan but after spending a few years here on assignmet, he liked the people so much he stayed. Heck of a guy. I like taking other states best people
