Default Furniture rental for short-term digs?

When we move to Lexington in December we will be getting a short-term rental for 2 or 3 months until we find a home to buy. We are moving with pretty much zero furniture since it costs so much to move and what we have is old anyway. We don't want to start buying new stuff until we have our house.

We are looking at furnished apartments which can be a bit pricey. A rental agent recommended looking at unfurnished and paying for rental furniture as a less expensive alternative.

Anyone have experience with furniture rental or suggestions? I tried to look on line to see if there were websites where I could compare prices, but I couldn't find any.

Thanks!

Micah - we found ourselves in a similar situation on our move to Lexington. There are several rent-to-own places (like Rent-a-center and Aaron's) that are targeted more for people that need special financing/pricing to pay for the furniture (e.g. make a weekly payment on a couch until you finally own it...at a very inflated cost to make up for the "convenience" and "credit risks" involved). And, as a result we found them to be really pricey and honestly not very customer-friendly. I know Cort tends to be more oriented to temporary/executive rentals, but I think that they've closed several of their stores including the one in Lexington. However, they do still have stores in Louisville and Cincinnati and might be able to deliver to the Lexington area.

Thanks for the input. That's what I was afraid of, but I will try to check on Cort.
