Hey all - I just moved to Lexington last month, and I was wondering if there was a good place to view fireworks tomorrow night (or tonight) w/out having to go downtown. I live out off Nicholasville road between New Circle & Man o War. I don't suppose the downtown fireworks can be see from the mall parking lot?
A 2009 thread on here mentioned that the Idle Hour Country Club has (or used to have) fireworks - are there good places around it to park and watch? Are they tonight or tomorrow night? (Sorry for all the questions, just didn't turn up much with my Google-fu this weekend.)
The grounds of the Shriners' Hospital for Children on Richmond Road offer a good place for fireworks-watching from the Idlehour CC across the street. Parking is a bit tight in this neighborhood, however, so go early and take a lawn chair or blanket. I think the fireworks are on July 4, but you might want to call Idlehour to confirm this.
R.J. Corman has a spectacular fireworks display on the 4th...it's free and right off of Nicholasville Rd. in Jessamine County. You can even see it from Rt.27.
