Default Info on Nicholasville

I'm a disabled vet looking to locate myself and my mother to Nicholasville. I'm retired so I don't have to worry about commuting and I have no children. I'm visiting KY right now to find the town I wanted and it was the first one on my list. I fell in love with it immediately. All of the responses about how bad the allergies are and how hot and humid Ky is. You've apparently never been to Florida.

My question is are there any areas to avoid? I know it's a small town compared to Jacksonville but every town I've ever been to has it's good and bad places. I'm not being rude I'm pretty much just straight forward. I'm looking to rent two, 2-3 bedroom house with approx 1,000sq feet. Price negotiable. It has to be pet friendly though

Thanks for your input.

Michelle

I live in Lexington, and don't know much about Nicholasville - but the crime in Lexington isn't really very bad -at least violent crime, so I can't imagine any place being all that bad in Nicholasville. I love and respect our Veterans and anyone who is an animal lover is okay by me. If you need any help, just let me know. Welcome to Kentucky! (I use to live in Miami Beach as I child, so I know what you mean about the
humidity - the only thing that I really miss is being so close to the beach.)

www.kentucky.com includes occasional news from Nicholasville. There was a violent incident involving a shooting there just in the last couple of days, but this was an unusual occurance (and a similar incident took place here in Lexington around the same time...).

The main issue with Nicholasville would be "redneck areas" where you may have noisy neighbors etc but there are no areas where robberies or shootings are common.

I've never lived in Nicholasville, but I do live very close to it right now, on the south end of Lexington. I have a lot of friends who currently live there, though, and they absolutely love it. The cost of living is great, it's very close to all of the big-city amenities, but you still have that quiet, country feel, and it is very safe. Of course, you'll have your occasional crime, but what city doesn't? Honestly I think we would have moved there a long time ago to take advantage of the cheaper utilities and more bang-for-your-buck homes, but I'm too lazy to drive that far to work :P

Thanks censusdata and emalineky. I want to avoid the noisy places also. Unfortunately being out of state makes it hard. Everywhere is louder on the week-ends. Would be nice to know how much louder. I'm planning on a townhouse or duplex on the north end of town until I can find a house. That will give me a better idea.
