Your Suggestions: Doctors and Dentists (Lexington, Nicholasville: vacation, work, health)

Hi Everyone!

You've been so helpful, so as we make our move to Lexington (next month this time we'll be there!) I'd like your suggestions:

A doctor who specializes in geriatrics

A family practitioner who works well with teens and adults

A female doctor who specializes in woman's health

A pediatric dentist

A dentist who works well with children and adults

I don't have recommendations for every category but here are a few I highly recommend:
Dana Corbett DMD-family dentistry. Our pediatric dentist recently retired and both our 10 year old son and I switched to Dana. We really like her and her staff. It was an easy transition for our son.
Lena Edwards MD-female health. Balance Health and Wellness Center is her business name.

That is the 3rd time I have seen someone say how much they like Dana Corbet as a dentist! My boyfriends mother says that she is great!

I love my doctor! I go to Family Practice Associates in Hamburg. Now I hardly ever go to the doctor, but when I do, I don't like to wait! and I like someone that will just tell me whats up without all of the doctor talk and what my options are to fix it!

My doctor rocks. His name is Wesley Johnson. Even more so...the office is open on Saturdays! Bonus! And if for some reason I get the worst cold of my life and he is on vacation...(which has never happened)...there are six other doctors in his office that I can see right away and they have my file, just like he would.

The office is clean and new and very efficient. They can take blood and xrays right there. whew! I don't want to sound crazy, I just appreciate fast and clean service!

I might try Dana C. myself...I don't care for my dentist office all that much!

I have had a bit of a different experience at Family Practice Associates, but Stephanie is right - it is very nice not to have to wait to see a doctor there. I have never waited more that 10-15 minutes in the waiting room, which is rare in most doctor's offices!

They are a good place to get a Rx for a respiratory/sinus infection or other simple problem. The doctors I have seen (Johnson and Rogers on occasion) are very friendly with above average "bedside manner." The only downside is that I have been misdiagnosed in their office on two occasions. Once related to an ligament injury and the other time it was a more serious misdiagnosis (recurring UTI vs. tumor). I would say that all doctors are prone to missing a diagnosis (they aren't perfect with x-ray vision), but when I sought out a second opinion in both situations, I received the correct diagnosis and treatment on the first visit.

I don't know if you need an eye doctor, but I love Dr. Ditto, even though his office is in Nicholasville. His office is nice, efficient, clean with up-to-date equipment, and he is very knowledgable and has always provided excellent care. My contacts have never fit this well. I think a contractor might run the glasses portion of the office. I don't buy my glasses there, and would recommend going elsewhere for that part, but in terms of eye exams, Rx/health recommendations, and contact fittings - Dr. Ditto is the best eye doc I've had in any of the places we've lived.
