NEWCOMERS please read before posting so we may assist you in your move
(note that I borrowed this thread from the VA forum, as we here are also getting bombarded with vague questions)
READ if you are asking about where to live in Lexington.
There's been many threads recently from people requesting information on where to live in Lexington. If you are about to post one of these information request threads, please include the following:
-Where you are working
-How much you are willing to spend on housing
-How long of a commute you're willing to tolerate
-If you have kids: Private school or public school?
-What type of neighborhood environment you are looking for: small town feeling? small city excitement? suburbia delight?
-Community amenities important to you
-Pie or cake?
We on the Lexington forum would appreciate it if you included the above information in your initial post so you can get the information you want as quickly as possible and we would not have to repost the same questions for every thread. Thank you.

... check craigslist for some rental options. I'm not sure where the post office is located - I have a guess, but I'm not sure. [You might want to start a new thread - this one is just a "sticky"]. I'll try to figure out where the po is located and then see if I have any ideas, but others will know more.

Hi, I am going to be moving to Lexington by the end of May and am totally new to this area. My office is located on W Main street and I am looking for a reasonable apparmtent community to move into as I am a single female and going to be staying by myself. I am trying to decide between the Stoney Brooke Apartments and the Cove Lake Village Apartments. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.......Thank you

Masterson Station - the back side close to the horse pastures. Great area. You'll have to keep your dogs fenced in your yard, however and take them out on a leash. good homes, good neighbors, good prices. Close to the PO distriution center, UPS, FedEx, interstate, et al. and a shopping center w/restaurants.

Where to live
Masterson Station. On the back side that backs up either to the horse pastures or the park. you'll have to keep your dogs fenced in your yard, however. Close to the PO distribution center (3-4 miles), UPS, FedEx, shopping center, banks, restaurants. Great neighborhood, good prices for nice new homes.

I may be moving to Lexington about mid Oct. So I would also love some local advice on good areas to look. I would be looking for an apartment $800-$1000 mo. I'm in outside sales from Lexington and Eastern Ky. No kids.
Type of neighborhood would be clean, suburban. maybe close to parks, bike trails and book stores. Any ideas?
