JCM that that is a post I can feel good about. That was a nice way to say what you had already said but wasn't offensive. Have a wonderful day!

Yes JCM, you are becoming such the diplomat these days. Always a pleasure though to get your unvarnished take on these places that perhaps I still see through the rose-tinted window of memories from long ago. Keep up the good work.

Way to show some Southern hospitality there, nalabama.

Memories are one thing. But, seriously, I remember this guy named DowdyPants in a thread long closed down that commented on how so many people in this Kentucky forum get worked up over even the slightest comments that are perceived to be negative or critical. (It was from the Louisville perception thread this spring, I think.)

Yes, state pride is a wonderful thing (or, in this case, Commonwealth pride,) but out of all the forums I've posted on and scoped the Kentucky forum suffers the absolute WORST from the rose-colored glass syndrome, followed closely by Arkansas and Tennessee. It frankly annoys me and, if I were an outsider looking in, it would make me much less likely to want to move to the Commonwealth.

I wish we were like Alaska or Washington state in terms of being more laissez-faire when a few skeptical comments come our way; i.e. "You know, I know there are some doozies or not so nice towns in our area, and I apologize for your bad experiences, but on the other hand maybe town A or B would suit your needs. Good luck in your endeavors."

I've given my honest assessment of Georgetown and other places in Kentucky, not expressly discouraging anybody from moving there.
