Default Clays Mill Road: Widening NO, Roundabouts YES

I am trying to start a group that would suggest adding roundabouts at all traffic signals on Clays Mill (except at Harrodsburg Rd & Man O War) as opposed to a meaningless three laning which would cut down hundreds of trees and create a construction headache for homeowners and commuters without an significant traffic improvements

Just a suggestion (and you may have already done this) but have you spoken with any of the neighborhood associations in the area? Having served on the board of my former neighborhood association I found that this was a very effective means of getting concerned/involved people on board for projects like this. Also have you spoken with your council person?
Great idea by the way!! Good luck.

Neighborhood assoc's is a great idea. I know people in the houses along Clays Mill don't want their trees cut down and have bulldosers in their yard for months for a project that WON'T IMPROVE TRAFFIC conditions at all.

The worse section of Clays Mill Road ALREADY had 3 lanes (Wellington Way to Pasadena Dr). The only thing the city's plan would add is bike lanes (whoopty doo)

The Southland Neighborhood Association and Hill-n-Dale Neighborhood Association have been actively campaigning against this widening for years and years. They might join your roundabout idea.

Censusdata
you can find a listing of all the neighborhood associations and the presidents by looking at your council person's site on lfucg.com.

Good luck, but I just don't see it happening. The city would have to take too much of people's yards who live on the corner's. Anybody remember when Pieratt's on Nicholasville Rd. thought the city shouldn't take take their property to widen Nicholasville Rd? The lane ended at their property. Mulitply that by 4 for each Clays Mill property owner times every corner where a roundabout could be.

I found on good list on that website and sent 7 emails out

Does anyone else think my suggestion sounds feasible?

Well the problem with that is, a lot of people don't know what roundabouts are.

Folks in that area do London. There's one right there on Reynolds just up from Clays Mill. LOTS of wrecks there initially, investigated alternatives, but finally folks have become fairly familiar with how to drive it. You still have to be careful for that occasional deer in the headlights person who has no idea how or where to go.

I know, I have been on the one along Reynolds Road, but a lot of people never drive out in that area to be familiar with roundabouts.
