Default Cheapside Ave to become Lex's version of 4th Street Live?

Has anyone else heard rumors that the city is wanting to close Cheapside Ave to traffic and put a glass roof over it to create a small version of Lou's 4th Street Live?

IMO Cheapside Ave would be the perfect place in Lex for something like that

This is the half block long 4th Street Live in Lou

cartomanlex2 is on a distinguished road
I doubt that a glass roof would ever be built over Cheapside after the CentrePointe controversy.

This street, I believe, will be closed officially next year but whether or not a roof could be done is the purview of the Court House Area Design Review Board. The area is also in the proposed TIF zone and slated for the relocated Farmers Market's permanent location.

As I have stated on another forum, I think that West Short St.(from Broadway to Upper) is the better location for a covered street venue. Styled in a nice 1890's cast iron lacy look and not an ultra modern look like Louisville. I'm thinking one of the late 1800's style train shed roofs without the smoke.
