Default Moving to Nicholasville!!

My family and I are moving to Nicholasville on Ridgwood Drive, I was curious as to if this is a good community. I believe it is off of Williams Road. My husband will be working in Lexington and we have 2 little boys, 2 years and 2 months. We are looking forward to our move but was a little curious about the area.

Is that in the Edgewood Subdivision?? If so, some of that area can be rough.

Nicholasville is a great little town with nice, friendly folks. I'm sure you'll love it there.

Default I LOVED Nicholasville!

I know you will love Nicholasville! I used to live there when I was a student at Asbury Seminary in nearby Wilmore. I moved away several years ago, but I still miss the area. I found Nicholasville to be a very friendly town, not too big. It has good grocery stores, a big Walmart, banks, fast food, and a few other restaurants. I lived there as a single woman in my early twenties and always felt safe and comfortable.

One great thing about Nicholasville is its proximity to Lexington, which has great shopping and dining and access to many cultural opportunities because of its size and the University of Kentucky. Speaking of UK, I hope you like basketball The whole area is crazy for UK basketball. I had never lived in an area so into their local college team, but it was a lot of fun to participate in the UK fever.

If I had to say a bad thing about the area, I guess it would be the traffic right through the downtown area. It just wasn't built for today's traffic levels, but the area has a bypass route around the town's busiest part, so it really isn't too bad.

The whole area around Lexington and Nicholasville is quite picturesque because it is horse country. You can see many horse farms on a short drive through the country.

I can't comment too much on the local schools, but I always got the impression that there is a lot of loyalty to local sports teams and districts. When I lived there people in the area were very proud of there community and very proud of being from Kentucky.

I really enjoyed living there and hope you will too. Good Luck

Couldn't you have chosen Wilmore or Versailles? MUCH nicer communities!

And, Wilmore is only 4 miles from everything Nicholasville, and it's not as "rednecky." Maybe you'll like N'ville better than I do; to each their own.
