Single Women in Lexington (Louisville, Murray: cul-de-sac, townhome, school)

What gives?

I'm well educated, successful, dress well, live a clean lifestyle... yet I cannot seem to catch the eye of Lexington's eligible. Do I need to own a horse farm? Do lots of drugs? Become an a-hole like every guy I see many of y'all dating?

I really do not want to be a player (nor a monk). Lexington-specific advice appreciated.

No....are you from here? I'm guessing not. For some reason it is difficult to break into the Lexington out and about scene if you are not from here.

Here's my take....you are very close to being correct. There are way to many, well known, well-dressed, drug heads in Lexington, way too many. So that would likely help, but I wouldn't lower your standards..yuck.

There are also lots of a-holes. These are the ones you see hanging out a the gym a little too much and thinking they are too cool for life. For some reason lots of girls in Lexington go for this. ?? Don't know?? I can see a total L on face, but my girlfriends will go goo goo over "how cute".

This is what I suggest. A lot of the "good" girls in Lexington are married. BUT there are plenty that are single and PLENTY who deserve a better man. I know at least 3 marriages that are getting cheating on right now....so good news for you that there are women out there for you.

Try to get involved in some charity groups, volunteer, do the "races" downtown, gallery hops, festivals. If you go out, then go out. Don't go looking for a girl, b/c it doesn't matter where you go......Harry's, Sig. Club, Hugo, etc. You are going to run into the same type of people you mentioned. Try taking dance lessons at Arthur Murray, paint ball, wine tastings, etc..

And besides, maybe you just haven't met the right one. If they are looking for you to own a farm, do the drugs, or cheat like crazy...then do you really want to date them anyway?

I hear you on all of this.....my girlfriends ARE those girls. Hot, successful and pick total losers to date and by that I mean total successful losers! I tell them, but it doesn't matter! and they wonder "why" when something goes wrong? my favorite "how do I end up with all of the crazys?"

Hmmm......my response...."BECAUSE YOU PICK THEM!!"

I agree with your post in many ways

I guess I was hoping to find a beautiful Kentucky woman, with a charming accent, who might some day be worth marrying! Lofty ideals I know... call me a foolish romantic.

I will try out some of the activities you suggested. I've actually done the Gallery Hop many times, and flirted a little but nothing ever came from it. I guess I need to be more of a jerk... which is what I tried to avoid by coming here. Out West you can get any girl you want if you are abusive, but see I *refuse* to lower myself to that level (and have no respect for that type of woman anyway).

Here's to "breaking in" to the Lexington scene

Its not totally Lexington's fault....its a small city, and I think it would be like this in any metro under 500k. Still, I think ttyl gives some good ideas. Joining service groups and getting active in the community is the best way to meet people. If you live in a suburban townhome, wake up, drive to work, work and interact at work, drive to the gym, and drive home and park in your suburban cul-de-sac, you wont meet anyone. Maybe start by changing your lifestyle, although there arent too many urban meeting places in Lex. Also, Lexington is VERY southern and old school. You will have to approach women, and dont give up if they don't seem interested at first. I have noticed that there. If you see a woman without a ring in front of you at the grocery, make small talk. get a good vibe? Ask for her number and ask her for coffee or wine!

Thank you for the great advice. I go out almost every day, looking for activities. I even try to make small talk. The girls just seem so snobby. But perhaps, like you say, I should not give up if they seem disinterested at first (or second, third).

I personally know of 3 people who did E Harmony. One has been dating her guy for over 6 months. The other 2 couples got married. Just a thought.

I agree, the women in Lexington are very much eye candy but many are also rather unapproachable b/c of the way they carry themselves. Louisville, truthfully, is much the same way in my experience.

Some of the best girls I've met in Kentucky are (1) from the country but don't act or behave "country", and (2) from out of state and still pretty but not ego-filled small town beauty queens.

Umm I have lived in Lexington as well as other parts of Kentucky and have family in several parts of Kentucky.
