Where are you getting this information from?

It might be the pollen count... we are the worst place for allergies. Source: 100 Worst Spring Allergy Cities

Could also be smog, created by idling at all these terribly LONG stoplights we have all over town

I was just in Lexington for a week and I thought the air was great. It depends on were your from to get a perception. I'm from the greater Phx area and Lex is hands down much better to me.

Even though the pollen is a problem for those with allergies, there is a plus side to all those flowering trees and shrubs. With the rain we've had the past two days, the air is heavy with the scent of the blooms--go outside in a green area and it smells like heaven. Or what dryer sheets wished they smelled like!

The main pollution problem in Lexington is when you are stuck in traffic for 20 minutes and getting to breath all the fumes coming from the 20 cars around you.

It's not bad except on extremely hot summer days, when the smog rating can be "moderate" or "fair." It's still clean as a whistle compared to Atlanta, Cincinnatti and other major cities.
