allergy "central" in lexington area
I love Kentucky and would love to move there - however I have read repeatedly that this area was extremely "high for allergies".

It can be pretty bad, I think I have adjusted to allergies in the south now. I don't get them nearly as bad as I used to.

YES YES YES! Pollens, molds, etc. are severe here! Louisville has the 3rd worst air in the country. They do not recommend anyone suffering from respiratory ailments to move to the Ohio Valley! Part of the problem is what they refer to the stagnant swamp air effect. It's the same reason it had more cases of turberculosis than anywhere else in the US! If you don't have allergies...you will. I'm on the KY/IN border and let me tell ya...wait...hold on...AH CHOOOOO!

um, actually it's dead on. We've consulted several doctors as well as the Common Wealth Ears, Nose, and Throat Specialists and that's exactly what they say. We're surrounded by transplants through our company from all over the US and overseas..and every single one has developed respiratory problems within a year of moving into the area. Most had never even been on medicines in their lives prior and are now getting shots or taking pills & inhalers. But if you love KY, don't let a stuffy or drippy nose stop you.

well, somehow I guess I and my family didn't read the manual, and neither did the three other couples I know who moved here within the past five years, as none of us have developed any new allergy problems. Just because people you know have developed them does not mean that "everyone" definitely will !

Well if you HAD read the manual you would be wiping your nose as you type. Maybe she'll get LUCKY as you! But just in case... buy lots of tissues!
