I think Central Baptist may be more "plush" but UK is the only hospital with a pediatric ICU. Hopefully that would not be something you would need, but in case of complications it is where I would want to be (a friend of mine whose husband is a doctor chose UK for this reason).

Central Baptist. Both of mine were born there. One was an emergency C-section. My babies and I got great care and the food was great.

I had two at Central Baptist and one at UK. I actually thought I got better care at UK... although I agree that CB seemed a little more "plush" - good word.

Personally I would only go to UK for two things: trauma or an unusual illness. Just not a fan of the pack of interns and residents present. I know it's necessary for their education but I like a bit more privacy.
I had our son at St Joseph East (actually at the time it was Jewish Hospital) and it was a wonderful experience.

We are going back to Saint Joe's East when our daughter is born in December. They are building a new maternity wing there, it's HUGE. However it won't be done until spring of 2010.

Central Baptist is where we had our son. It was great, the nurses were awesome and the rooms are beautiful.

I would not send my child to UK for anything other than to get them stable then I would get them transfered to Kosairs in Louisville as fast as possible. UK's childrens hospital almost let my son DIE!
