Default Renaissance and goth type with a dash of oudoors....would Lexington suit?

My friend and fellow fiend, is very much set on moving to Lexington.

I enjoy horses, both working with them, and admiring. I love renaissance faires, gothic bits and bobs, fishing, hiking, aquariums, art( I am a photographer), decent sushi, beading and jewelery, and variety of other things. I hail from Roanoke, VA, and basically what I am trying to ask is, would I stick out like a sore thumb in Lexington?

I weekend trip down every year for breyerfest, and I love the area, but moving there permenantly does worry me. While I like the gothic vibe, it's not something I have to do every weekend, or even every month. I basically need to know if there are fellow beaders, aquarium and aqua culture freaks out there.

Apartments: We would need a 2 bedroom/2 bath place, and I would prefer it to have water and sewer paid. Does such a place exist in Lex? I've been searching the sites, but so far no luck. A fairly safe place would be good, and traffic does not scare me. Atlanta is another city on my yearly menu, and after that, regular traffic is like a gnat.

Thanks

Hm, Lexington has an excellent bead store called Dandelion Beads, and plenty of fellow beaders.

Plenty of hiking, art, etc. I can talk more about these topics if you like. There are other goth/renaissance folks. Plenty of horses.

It isn't usual to have water paid in an apartment in Lexington - that would be a lucky find IF you were to find it.

Since you've been there, you've no doubt noticed that Lexington is a little more suburban than some places. You could do OK though, since you are looking for some things that Lexington is strong in.

It's wonderful to hear about the bead store. We have one here in Rke, but the quality has gone downhill.

If you could talk a bit on the arts and hiking, it would be lovely. I'm the first to admit that I am out of shape, but some decent trails would go a long way to getting me back into shape.

That is a shame about the water/sewer thing. I could care less about other things, but having water paid is a bit necessary. Are the water bills outrageous then? My roomie wouldn't be bad on the water front, I would definitely be the guilty party in that. The suburban thing does not bother me at all....Roanoke is the ultimate in suburbia, always has been. I could live in the country with no issues at all, I just need a city to do necessary shopping and have the occasional excursion.

Thanks for the info, it's appreciated.
