That's good to hear, but it might be relative to what you're used to.

It took me 40 minutes to drive 3 miles (from work to mall, across town) tonight here in Iowa City, so maybe it's not so great here, actually.

I'm still really leaning towards Palomar, if we can't find anything affordable inside New Circle Road. It seems like the area most in demand, and very nice. Or Woodfield.

Yep - that sounds similar to Lexington. Nothing compared to LA, Chicago, NYC, etc, but definitely a frustration to drive for 50 minutes to go 5 miles in a town the size of Lexington.

However, Palomar is a nice location and if you are considering it, then just try the drive one morning (if you get a chance). Obviously many people in Lexington do make the drive from outside of New Circle, and new neighborhoods are flourishing even further away from central Lexington, so it can't be THAT bad!

And like I said before, the congestion can get bad but the window of rush hour is much shorter than other cities. Closer to 7:00 am or 9:00 am, and closer to 4:00pm or 6:00pm, your commute is greatly improved.

Finally, Nicholasville Rd is the worst, and from Palomar you shouldn't need to take it in. So definitely don't get discouraged if you don't find a home you like inside New Circle.

Thanks nlschr0! That is definitely reassuring.

I've found a few newer neighborhoods with bigger houses within New Circle Road (Pasadena Woods, Parker's Landing, The Club) but they are EXPENSIVE...
