Default Where would you get married around Lexington? Suggestions for an inexpensive, beautiful wedding.

My friends just got engaged and are looking for a ceremony and reception site around Lexington. They do not go to any church in particular on a regular basis but would like to be married in a church with a reception after. So, my question is, if you were to get married in or around lex, where would you get married? Inexpensive and creative ideas welcome! (budget for wedding ~10-15k for 100 guests). Thanks! Jill

The Church at Athens (small, non-denominational) will host weddings for non-members. I think they charge around $500. It's the church past the 4 way stop in Athens that has a glass front and back. It looks out over a beautiful horse farm.

One of my friends had her marriage and reception at the Bell house. It's a beautiful place, not too expensive and situated downtown which gives people something to do after the wedding is over. Bell Place - Lexington, KY - U.S. National Register of Historic Places on Waymarking.com

I would look for a historic house - the Bodley-Bullock House, Bell House, Hunt-Morgan house, et cetera.

I think an early evening Summer wedding in Triangle Park, with the fountains lit and clear string lights in the trees, would be absolutely beautiful.

If they are willing to drive a little bit, Asbury Seminary in Wilmore (down Harrodsburg Road about 20 minutes from the Beaumont YMCA in Lexington) has a beautiful sanctuary/main chapel and has an entire weddings program ("Weddings at Asbury") open to the public that includes the option of an on-site reception. It was very reasonable when I knew the prices several years ago.

I second the Church at Athens...the view is beautiful! If it is a tiny wedding, there is a very small and quaint church on Pisgah Pike. http://www.pisgahpresbyterian.org And, then the reception could be held at the Castle, just down the road! http://www.thecastlepost.com

The grounds on the Arboretum is a beautiful place for a wedding, also The Horse Park is another place where you can get married if you're looking for something outdoors.
