Sorry to make another one, but I'm moving to Lexington
I tried looking through some of the other posts but I was not as sure they applied to me as I am not yet looking to buy.
My girlfriend and I are moving in the very near future. We will be visiting to apartment hunt, but I was hoping for some towns and areas to check out, maybe even specific complexes if you loved one.
I am working on Chinoe Rd which is near the UK campus (I assume it is since my job involves College kids). I am looking for an area that is clean, safe, maybe popular among young professionals. I am 27 so really don't want to live in the college area; maybe a nice suburb 10-15 minutes away.
I hear traffic is awful in Lexington so I don't know how far from that area I want to get, but again I want a nice area. As a reference right now I work in Columbus at OSU and live about 15 minutes north of the city in a suburb and it is perfect for commuting.
Being near stuff and people is important, again I don't want an apartment above the hottest night club, but I don't want to live in a town with only families where everything is closed at 8 PM either.
Any suggestions on where to start looking?

Chinoe Creek Apartments would be very handy for you. In general the closer into town you live the less traffic issues you will deal with. It is all the commuters coming in from outlying subdivisions that have traffic to deal with.

Thanks for the suggestion, is there a specific area of town that is located in so I can look around it.
Is that a generally good area, and are there other nice areas close to there?

It's in a very nice part of town and is inside New Circle Rd. This puts you close to both UK and fairly close to downtown. Since you say you'll be working on Chinoe Rd you might even be within walking distance! Chinoe runs from Richmond Rd to Gainesway Dr (I think that's the intersection where it changes). Chinoe Creek Apt's are on the part of Chinoe that is south of Alumni Dr. It's next to a shopping center that has a grocery, nice restaurant, liquor store and several other shops. It's very near Tates Creek Rd as well.

Is there a part of town that is called, so if I were looking at apartments near that specific complex or was telling someone where I lived I could say oh I have an apartment in...
Thanks for your tips. I'm probably coming into town next weekend to apartment hunt and wanted a heads up on areas to look in

I think you could just say "Chinoe" and everyone would pretty much know what you were talking about. I think the voting district calls that area "Tabor Lake."

Yeah, and that is a nice area. Everyone will know where it is, and will regard you well if you live there. Besides that, it's a nice area and very convenient to UK and downtown, as Lexingtongal said.
BTW it is pronounced locally as "SHIN-o-way". Knowing that will help you

Ditto on Timeless and Lexingtony. That area is great since you can get to Man-O-War, New Circle, downtown and UK really easily. Plus there is a Kroger right beside the complex. If you move there, be sure to try Jin Jin Chinese for carry out!

Chinoe Apartments would be close, but since I don't have personal knowledge of them I'll recommend one other apartment complex, Park Place. It's not exactly cheap, but UK employees get a discount, and it's near lots of good shopping. Traffic is neither the best nor the worst in Lexington. I have lived there 3 years, and have received awesome service. As a single 29 year old woman living alone I feel 100% safe there, and it's very quiet.

Actually...long-time Lexingtonians pronounce Chinoe "Shin-o-ee" (accent on the first syllable), not "Shin-o-way". The name originally belonged to a female relative of the Henry Clay family, and is said to be a French version of "Shawnee".
Many of the streets in Ashland Park are named for Clay family connections, both geographic and human (Chinoe, Fincastle, Desha, Slashes, McDowell, Irvine, Fontaine, Hanover...). Makes sense, since Ashland Park was part of Ashland, the Henry Clay estate, until the early 1900s, when the Clay descendents sold off a lot of acreage to be developed, retaining the "manor house" (in which they still lived) and about 12 acres.
Would that all Lexington subdivisions were so carefully developed as Ashland Park was, way back then.
Lexington trivia...but kinda cool to know.
