Default Stamping Ground VS Richmond

HI! I currently live in So. Florida and am wanting to move to the Lexington area. I have found two houses I like one being in Stamping Ground and the other in Richmond. I am not familiar either of these areas. Any info would be great. Thanks in advance!

Richmond is a nice little town that is growing. They have added another mall with stores like Kohls, JC Penny, Goodys and have two movie theaters. There is a VERY nice park in Richmond that has a water park, mini golf and a 18 hole golf course. Traffic can suck, especially when college is in because everyone is on the bypass. My wife and I love Richmond so much we are planning on selling our house in Lexington and moving to Richmond.

Stamping Ground is a small town that is much more isolated than Richmond. The closest towns are Georgetown and Frankfort (about 20-30 minutes away on country roads), and that is where most of the closest shopping, etc, is located. Richmond is bigger, has many more amenities, and is immediately off the interstate. Both have their pros and cons, so it depends on what you like.

Goody's doesn't exist anymore. The new Richmond Centre is a lifestyle center, not a mall. Anchored by JC Penney, Belk, Hastings, TJ Maxx and Meijer will be opening early next year. Restaurants include Panera Bread, Chick Fil A, Olive Garden, and Logans to name a few.

Kohl's is on the other side of town, not at the Richmond Centre.

Thanks for the input, I was leaning toward the Richmond house and now it sounds even better! What can I expect as far as weather from May thru December?

In the summer, some heat and humidity but nothing compared to Florida I'm sure. Weather'll get up into the 90's but primarily hang out in the 80's. Storms and tornadoes happen.

Once fall hits the weather begins to go crazy. You can tell it's fall when one day it's 85 and sunny, and the next day it's 40 and raining.

Winter's are pretty cold but that side of the New Year it's not too bad yet. Some snow, a fair amount of ice.

Don't forget Buffalo Wild Wings! Yeah richmond is a great place IMO. My son lives there and attends EKU. It's small and the rent is amazingly cheap. Like 400 dollars for a one bedroom with all utilities paid. Thats amazing. Its close to lexington so isolation isnt a problem. I recommend Richmond if that is the kind of thing you are after.
