Can anyone help me with this one.
My husband is interviewing on Saturday for a job in Lexington. The thought of a move scares me to death considering I have never lived anywhere else. I would like to find a place that is within a reasonable distance from Lexinton but because we have relatives in Colombus and Cinnci would like to have east access to those citys too. Also looking for a really strong (academic) school district with competitive boys soccer and lacrosse for my son who will be in the 11th grade next fall. I would like to be in an area with newer construction and somewhere in the 200-400 price range. Also would like access to good hospitals, shopping and interstates but dont want city living. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks |

Hi BMH! I posted a response to you in your previous posting the other day. A lot depends on where in Lexington your husband will work - do you know the area where his office will be?
Also, as I stated before, there are mostly just small towns and rural counties between Lexington and the Northern KY area. Are you interested in living in a small town and driving to Lexington or Cincinnati for your shopping, traveling, etc? Let us know more of your thoughts and needs and we might be able to give you some more specific information. ![]() |

Right Now I live 11 miles outside of Pittsburgh. We have world class hospitals, above national average school districts and at least 5 majors malls within a 30 min drive. Two of the malls are within 15 min drive. Yet I live in what use to be ,till the last 5 years, a rather rural area with beautiful farm land and terrific access to major highways. I know that it is going to be hard to recreate this senerio and I would like to get as close to it as possible. If we were say to stay in Northern Kentucky what are the best schools (ademically) and that have good lacrosse and soccer programs. I guess I am looking to be close to the amenities of a big city with out feeling like I am in it. As I said before a newer growing area would be nice. Close to golf courses and such. It is more important to have these things fulfilled than to be close to Lexington because he will only be in his office two days a week. He will be traveling the rest. How far is it from Lexington to Northern KY?

Cincinnati is about 75 miles from Lex. It's an easy drive. Most of the way it is 6-8 lanes. You really only hit a bottleneck up around Florence.
Lexington actually offers all you mentioned in your wish list. Have you considered just moving here? visitlex.com lexchamber.com are both sites that can give you info. I can't think of any towns between Lex and Cincy that would have all that you mentioned. |

Actually if you want to stay closer to Cincy you might look into Cold Springs. I don't know if the high schools have lacrosse or not though. In Lex all the high schools, except LCA, have lacrosse teams.

Lexington is nicer than the NKY suburbs of Cincy IMO, and has less traffic.

I am brand new as of tonight to this forum. I have been looking for a new place to live with my teenage son. We have never lived anywhere but Alaska. What can anyone tell me about Kentucky? I have been looking at Washington for years and also other places. I would like a small town feel, with land if possible. Also, will need a good paying job too. Any ideas? Like I said, I really am a novice as far as moving, let alone moving clear across the U.S.
