My kids are in Maxwell. FCPS put a lot of good teachers from Maxwell over there! As far as neighborhoods in that price range, I would look at Eastwood Club, Autumn Ridge, and Brighton East. I have sold houses in all of those neighborhoods and can say that my clients have been happy living there.
Eastwood Club is near New Circle Road. The values range from $125-200k. There are a lot of good 2000 sq ft 4 bedroom homes out there. It seems quiet and is very safe according to the crime map. I would stay on the east side of the neighborhood. It is a little older and is further away from the apartments/townhomes on Fortune. I have sold 2 in this area. One was 1500 sq ft for $143,000, and the other was a 1500 sq ft ranch for $150k.
Autumn Ridge is a great neighborhood. You will hear a little interstate noise if you lived over by Crimson Creek. I would avoid Autumn Ridge Drive as those houses don't sell as fast or for as much since people use that road to cut through to Hamburg. There are lots of families in this neighborhood. Values run from about $180-270k for one with a finished basement. I sold a 5 bedroom 2500 sq ft one on Deer Crossing last year for about $220k. Deer Crossing has the most desireable lots. One side of the street backs to a wooded area. The neighborhood also has its own park, even though it is right by the interstate.
Brighton East is a little neighborhood right by Autumn Ridge. Most of the neighborhood is in the $160-210k range. There are only a few streets. All of them are nice. I just sold one over there that was 4 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, 2000 sq ft for $185k.
Well, those are my picks. I would live in any of those neighborhoods in a heart beat.
I live in 40509 and really likie it. I have lived in 40502 near dowtown, 40502 just inside New Circle, Tates Creek just outside New Circle twice, and now an in the Todds Road area. By far, this is my favorite. I like that I can get to any place in Hamburg in about 10 minutes. Most of the people that live out here go there, so I end up running into friends and neighbors a lot.
